They say she's a great person,
Cheery, nice, and always happy,
But I know that they don't really know her,
Like who she is when no one is around.
Do they know of her bottled up emotions,
Of her struggles or fears,
Do they know of her pain that she tries so hard to mask?
They say that she's invincible,
She's solid like a rock,
She doesn't let anything stand in her way or nock her down.
They don't see her other side,
She refuses to let them see her cry,
In her eyes, crying in public is a sign of weakness,
In her heart, she's been hurt too many times,
In her mind, she can't trust anyone.
So many secrets are wanting out,
But she just keeps pushing them to the back of her mind,
So many times she questions herself,
She often wonders if she will find someone she will ever trust.
Maybe a best friend,
A special man in her future,
A few children, maybe,
But she doesn't count on it.
She thinks she's unlovable,
She thinks she's ugly,
She thinks she's a failure,
She thinks no one could seriously love her,
Let me ask you again,
Do you know her,
Are we still talking about the same person?...
