A Winter's Night of Summer's Joy

Poetry By: teargen

On this one night Mother Nature just turned things upside down.

The night with a soft and festive touch
removed the chill from winter's eye,
and gentle, June-like ambient air
was brightened by a moonlit sky;
the night then served a winsome drink
for the season's offbeat vis-a'-vis,
when a pleasing mist of sudden rain
was furnished unexpectedly;
surrounded by her cordial arms,
befitting and sublime,
the evening offered pleasant charms
of summer's joy in wintertime.

Invigorating strength of night,
refreshing pause from barren winds;
a leader of an honor guard
that marches up when spring begins;
and even though the winter chill
returned with its employ,
I'll always follow memories
of a winter's night of summer's joy.
