Jesse Dog

Poetry By: teargen

Jesse was a stray who just wandered in one day and was taken in by the next door neighbors.

Just out of curiosity, Jesse
sets her gaze to the east,
scans the din
that forewarns perceptive ears,
and eyes the arrival
of another morning.
She gnaws bald the arrogance
of any intrusion, for she
is both loyalty and sentry,
born with the antiquity
of scowling instinct,
of measurement with descent.
Jesse espies the gait
of morning,
attunes to rhythmic inflection,
weighs the slightest wafting
of scents with sums
of canine awareness.
She is noteworthy this
once bereft roaming waif,
who humbly nudged
her way into both hearts
and home, conducting herself
now with a style
proudly unique, for her realm
requires of her this passionate
and auspicious performance.
