The Phoenix Rises

Poetry By: Tesseth

I love the tale of the Phoenix...the idea of sloughing off all that is old & wrong for a new start...new life! It is amazing.

The Phoenix
Engulfs itself in flames
To purge it's soul of
Tortured pains

500 years
It's time again
To take this flight
To make amends

To end one life
To start one new
This flaming flight
They all must do

Plummeting towards
The stony ground
Eyes closed tight
No breath, no sound

A ball of flames
Soon meets the land
Burning bushes
Melting sand

The smoldering ground
Begins to shift
The bird breathes in
This fresh new gift

The Phoenix rises
From the crash
Shaking off debris
And heavy ash

She stands so tall
She spreads her wings
Throws up her head
To the sky she sings

Chest puffed full
Ready to soar
Proud and strong
She is reborn

The Phoenix rises
From this earth
Taking off in flight
Reveling rebirth.
