Before he fell
before he fell

He went to sit on the wall.

Before he sat
before he sat

He was told

"You're never to see it again."
"You're never to see it again."

You see the wall,
that blasted wall,
was in the way of all of the
constellations.

The egg would stare
the egg would stare

at the wondrous stars that lit the sky.

Until

the wall was built
the wall was built

and everything

was simply blocked away.

First for Humpty Dumpty

came rage

nothing but rage.

"I need the stars to light my world and all you do is block them away?"

Then came sadness

He cried and was in despair.

He was asked
numerous times

"Why care so much for stars?"

He never answered.

He never answered.

One day
however
after many fortnights

The egg just couldn't take it

"I need to see them! The stars I miss, I need to see them!"

Then he climbed up the wall in haste.

"Come down!" Called the people. "You'll fall and break!"

The egg was stubborn
the egg continued

up on the wall.

At last he sat and stared at the stars

He smiled so awed
and closed his eyes.

"So pretty they are," he said to himself.
"Such beauties they are."

And then he fell and broke

and then he fell and broke.

Some say the stars
that he loved so much
shine because of him

they say that he lived a good life

dying because of something he loved.

They also say
that some stars

the ones so rare
that shoot across the sky

Shooting stars

they are him.

But then again
that legend is wrong

Shooting stars don't shatter when they hit the ground.
