The Sea of Life
Life is an ocean
With high tides and low tides and everything in between.
And a never ceasing flow
Of waves of opportunity.
From the outside
It looks calm and peaceful.
But from waste deep water
It's a little more fearful.
Fighting the undertow
Walking further out to sea
And somewhere in the middle of it
Is a dot called me.
Me? I'm just a surfer
Trying to stay on top of the waves.
Although I'd be a fool to think
That on top I would stay.
So I put a hand down
To catch me when I fall
Knowing when a wave takes me out
It doesn't mean I lose it all.
There'll always be more waves
And far more opportunities
Till you find when you're content
With riding to the beach.
Pick the perfect wave
And don't be afraid to fall
For another wave's coming
Waiting for you to answer the call.
Accept the challenge. Take a chance.
Ride the wave till its course is done.
But in the hard pulling current of life
Don't forget to have some fun.
For it's not about what others say
Is just how far you'll go.
But all about the happiness
And making more friends than foes.
So take a chance. Ride a wave.
Come on in to shore.
For there comes a time in every man's life
When he can't ride them anymore.
Remember the good rides
And learn from the bad.
But never ever ever forget
All the experiences you have.
And even though a 'calm sea'
Is never really calm,
Don't lose sight of all the things
You hold simply in your palm.
Live, laugh, love, and learn
And always remember to discern.
To find out what it means
To simply be yourself.
And not let this ocean we call life
Turn you into anything else.
