Hole In My Pocket
by: Jessica Tucker
There's a hole in my pocket,
where the things I find,
must be falling out,
to be lost for all time.
I've lost some money,
and little trinkets too,
but worst are those,
that I lost to you.
I gave you a piece of me,
a little of each part,
my mind, body and soul,
my breath, my life, my heart.
When you threw those away,
I tried to retrieve each one,
and put them in my pocket,
but the hole in my pocket, won.
Once I give away a piece,
it never again belongs to me,
Forever in the pockets of others,
no matter what came to be.
Perhaps I should fix this hole,
and not give out pieces too,
for the sake of saving myself,
from people just like you.
