My struggle to be beautiful. m

I am not fond of perfection
I learned this through a hard lesson
Through a broken heart
I've become smart
I didn't learn this in my adolescence

I drowned my face in foundation
Trying to create a beautiful creation
I didn't feel good
I was so misunderstood
I felt my time was wasted

I wanted to shine just like the sun
And fit perfectly into a size one
I skipped my meals
And wore high heels
And still I missed out on all the fun

My heart was aching for a taste
Of a kiss, a hug, the thrill of being chased
I curled my hair
And was always "there"
Still, it was a waste

As time went on, I realized
That beauty isn't about thin thighs
Or a cute round face
Or walking with grace
But the heart within and how it beats
