They tell us they love us
And then they leave us.
They say they'll always be there
And then they walk away without a backwards glance.
They're the closest to our hearts
So their betrayal hurts more than other's.
We try to move on
But the betrayal is cut so deep, that it may never heal.
We live with the grief
Of knowing that they lied.
But it doesn't help us cope with the grief
Of knowing that they quickly left our lives.
We go on with our lives
Never fully moving on.
Wondering how much easier our lives would've been
If they'd never led us on.
They tell us they love us
And then they leave us.
They say they'll always be there
And then they walk away without a backwards glance.
They leave us
With a broken heart.
But they feel no grief of leaving us
With a broken promise.
They continue on with their lives
Meeting new people and making new promises.
They don't care if they ruin people's lives
Or break their promises.
They continue on
With no guilt and no grief.
They move on
Never once looking back.
They tell us they love us
And then they leave us.
They say they'll always be there
And then they walk away without a backwards glance.
