It has been a long time since I have written. But hopefully, i can begin posting with more regularity. I am also thinking of venturing into songwriting.... any suggestions?

This is a 9/11 poem - I know it's being done a lot today but I suppose it's because we all have a lot to say.

A world awoke to darkness

twisted steal, broken lives.

All this pain by deliberate cause

All this suffering at the hands of mere mortals-

How does one idea destroy the world?

It does so with explosive hate, fires blazing.

A dream of bliss and prosperity

ripped from the hearts of a whole country

with one staggering gesture.

How do we build peace

over the rubble of our anguish?

Can we replace the anger and hostility

with love and forgiveness?

I don't really know

but I'd like to think so.

Nothing is ever resolved by our hate,

we never learn through vengenance.

The grief is real, still palpable after 10 years,

but we cannot hold on to the hate forever.

Build a bridge and cross over the river of rage-

the other side is a stronger us, a better us.

We carry the memory, scars in our hearts,

and we cannot ever forget those we lost.

But let it be that we carry them as a balloon

carries its passengers skyward,

lifting upward towards some place greater

than what we are -

some place where the world is not at war

and peace is not a pipe dream.
