Breaking the walls between our souls...

Is there a light beneath the sheets of ice

That lie across unchartered waters?

A sense a warmth that will suffice

the coldness after martyred slaughters.

Is there a way to break down the walls

That between us, you have so humbly built?

Give me a sign, your lonely heart calls

Don't bottle up or simmer down with guilt.

Brim over the sides of your cage,

the one where you have locked away

Your true identiy, your name, your age

Painless, it is, so painful to say -

Is there a way for these walls to break?

The ones that you have sorrowfully upheld?

It hurt me deeply to watch you take

the first hand upon brick, to make it weld

I shout in the mist of the winter dawn:

Bring down your fortress! Tame the stallions!

I cry until the air turns cold, and I scorn :

This is not a conquest! Surrender your battallions!

What is it about the peaceful break of day

That delivers him to my mind, dream master?

First the image of his face, then I hear him say

With love, there is pain, and the distaster.

So you build your walls so high

And you flee from cupids arrows with haste

You gild hatred and pity love, and with a sigh

you pity others who have taste!

So I ask, the last of these hopeless cries,

I say : Could you not at least,

Look without coldness in your eyes

and see that Love is not the beast

What are you so afraid of, my friend?

That with love, you are led -

Blind to a dead and dusty end?

That Passion is force-fed?

No, my darling, I whisper in a low tone

As I brush my fingers lightly on a brick

I sense his shudder, I hear him moan

Alone, he cries, his lonely heart sick.

I know his truths, and I know his lies

I feel connected but undoubtedly apart

I love his voice, I love his solemn sighs

So I break the wall. The one by his heart.
