Paper Roses

Poetry By: walkingonfate

A paper rose, for the one that knows...inside and out, my heart and soul

I sit with my notebook, it rests on one knee

The guitar is in the corner, never far from me

My hair falls down my back in dark loose curls

This is me, this is the real Paper Rose girl

She has been sending them to your door

She has been placing them in your hands

Every day you got home to find more

A sea of them, a Paper Rose land

You can't help but smile, as you take

The first one, I ever did make

Unfolding the petals to reveal

Inside, my feelings, so real

In a shaky hand is scrawled,

From my knees I crawled

To the safety of your heart

Yet you have torn me apart

severed my spine,

you create shredded paper-petals

Perhaps next time,

I should send roses made from metal
