I got
        CRAZY words!

Y’all should see ‘em –
         They’s a
         N’Awleens jumpin’ jazz
festival

    wit’ stilt-walkin’, trash-talkin’
                   jugglers
   ‘n’ flamin’ side-show
  sword swallowers

(Voodoo princess in the corner –
   Doncha think y’oughtta warn ‘er?)

They’s ju-ju in the air
  & frantic dancin’ lewd &
   bawdy
         high-life thugs

Well – they jist ain’t
    in control
    of they senses

an’ they sho’ ain’t in control
    of the fences --

Those

have been

   s t a m p e d e d

I got CRAZY,
   words make hocus-pocus pie
    wit’ jumbalaya ‘n’ sweet paella
      ‘n’ eggplant parmesan --

I think
   I’ll eat them words –
      I’m sho’ they taste
   Deeeee-lishshsh-ussss

‘n’ they ain’t too bad
    digested ‘n’ re-
    gurgitated, neither!

Yeah! Taste them words
  Wit’ yo’ ears,
   Wit’ yo’ eyes
Wit’ da pre-rational room
In yo’ mind
‘n’ dance, dance to they samba –

Starlit night time
    Drunken, shoutin’ revelers
Aswirl in a frenzy
    Of passion ‘n’ despair

Skirts ‘n’ voices
        Flappin’ in the stompin,
Stomped-up dust storm

I

Got crazy –

                                     WORD!

Thank you, Mr. Benn -- I have a Dissociative Identity Disorder, and am not sure which of my crowd signed me up to this site -- up until yesterday, I/we did not remember, hence the extreme lateness of my response...This poem won 1st place at the Valley Visions Cultural Arts Festival here in Los Lunas, NM in October, 2006 - it's one of my favorites, especially since it came through with a voice from which I have never heard from before or since - I basically just took dictation....Peace!

You must be from the NO area, because you had a lot of the spellings and all nailed down! I can hear the Cajun accent. I'm from Louisiana (closer to the TX border), and I definitely enjoyed the poem.

Thank you so much! And, believe it or not, I have never been near NO! 98% of the time, I am not, shall we say, the creator of my poems - I may do the physical writing, but I am taking dictation and writing what is being channeled to/thru me -- This poem caught me completely by surprise, as I have never heard from this particular voice before, nor have I since!

Peace!

I have a Dissociative Identity Disorder, so I completely forgot I had signed up for this site -- thank you for reminding (us) me! I'll have to publish more here... =)
