I was in the hospital room my great grandmother was staying in (No she didn't die, she got better.) And while my mom was talking to her I was looking out the window, and this poem came to me. :) Enjoy!

I Stand.
From where I stand,
Life is different.
I watch out this window to the world below,
Life goes on outside...
What about me?
Why must I remain here waiting?
"Because you have to," they tell me,
But, why?
Why do I have to?
I see couples outside,
They laugh,
Loving life.
I have nothing to live for,
No one to love.
No one to love me.
Who would want to love me?
This... Sick, pale shadow I see in the mirror.
These walls are enough to make me insane.
The bright white messes with my mind,
Telling me,
"Tick-tock, tick-tock."
Time is running out...
My mind is slowly leaving me behind,
Slipping away,
Never to return.
Leaving this hollow body behind in it's dust.
I am but a walking corpse.
I look out the window,
A dog.
I always wanted one.
"No," Mother said. "No pets. Pets will harm you."
I just wanted someone to love me for who I am,
Not because they have to.
The days go by slowly,
I just stand here waiting.
Watching the people through the window.
I sit now,
Not having the energy to stand any longer.
So I sit at the window,
Still watching life roll by.
My days grow shorter,
As I do not have the will to do this anymore.
I do not watch anymore,
My frail, hollow body is but a shadow of who I once was.
Mother does not come anymore.
She does not care,
I had been sick since birth.
She didn't want to love me...
She had to.
Now that I am to leave this world,
She does not watch me anymore.
As I lay here,
I stare at the ceiling.
Staring into the abyss of white,
The white will consume my shadow.
Once the shadow leaves,
All that will be left is a body.
A limp, cold body.
I close my eyes.
Tranquility engulfs my shadow,
Pulling me into the darkness.
Someone yells my name,
Someone I know.
He cared about me,
My friend.
An illuminated face looks me in the eyes,
"Come," he says,
Pulling me into his arms.
We stand,
Watching the shadow of my old life leave.
I look at him,
He crumbles to pieces before my eyes.
Fire engulfs my tortured soul,
Hellish spawns taunting me with their love again.
I had stood there,
For ages.
Waiting for my demise...
This is what I was waiting for?
So be it.
I stand,
As hellish creatures devour my already broken soul.
