Words with Wings

Poetry By: Werewulf14

A poem I wrote on the spur of the moment. I suffer from Dr. Seuss Syndrome (DSS) Which means my poems always rhyme.

Books are words with wings

That take us lands away

Forget earthbound trouble and woe

be happy, joyful, free and gay

a book is a crown a beggar may wear

A land he may rule as king

a free thought every slave can bear

where even the mute can sing

Books are worlds we can live in

when ours is dark and gray

an umbrella when it's raining

light that shines on the gloomiest day

There are no wings such like a book

to take us lands away
