Hopes of Redemption

Twinkling lights

Starry skies

Heavens above

Can you hear my cry?

A timeless hope

An unrequited yearning

A secret untold

Could I be falling?

Confusion surrounds me

Questions flood through my mind

Answers beyond my reach

I can almost hear you calling

Is my mind playing tricks on me?

Because I am finding it hard to believe

That someone so amazing and so sweet

Could have just as easily fallen for me

But quite stubbornly kept it from me

I wish I could just blurt out the secret so carefully hidden

But I fear a rejection beyond any pain imaginable

I hope to take a breath count to three

And say “I Love You” and you would then be mine to keep
