The look you see in my eyes is not hesitation
It is fear; fear that you will hurt me again
And I wouldn’t be able to handle it once more
How can I trust you with my heart when you’ve shattered it before?
You sound so sure that I can walk away
But I’m afraid that’s not the case
Because I too carry a secret
You speak of lights and heavens
I think of stars and dreams
Sadly time is not in your favor, I may not be able to stay away
I may not be able to let you go
But if you make time your enemy I must move on
The pain you caused changed my perspective
I used to hold you in high esteem but now I feel dejected
Everyone seems to have the right idea and you’ve clouded my judgment
But after the hurt I am blind no more
I see a side of you I can no longer ignore
I see a flicker of hope as a single thought rushes
I wish your secret would come out
And that just being with me is enough
I pray that you would prove me wrong one last time
And I plead that if I am rejected, it is done in kind
