First Haiku Attempts
Heat suffocates bed
Covers tossed in search of breeze
Lovers separate
* * *
Spilling words freely
Thinking to reach another
Step on broken glass
* * *
Frosted leaves hanging
Iced in death’s cold exhaled breath
Winter’s herald come
* * *
Laughter warms in love
A passing shadow darkens
Cold cold rain falling
* * *
Reaching out in want
Spending all my pocket’s words
Left then stone broke
* * *
Peepers fill this night
High frequency signaling
Spring now is afoot
* * *
Hats crush down on head
Ears reject the push of bands
Hair flies up unkempt
* * *
Whirls of color skip
Shards blaze even in puddles
Nothing dulls the fall
* * *
An ant travels fast
To my foot and then over
It’s anatomy
* * *
