Lines of Poetry
Tall Grasses
Like a great ocean
Wave after wave moves across
Tall grass lifts and bends
Patrol
Cracked ground baked and hot
Wild with rambling stick-brambles
Soldier ants march on
Crabby
Awkward scuttle race
Mottled backs above stalk eyes
Exposed mud crabs run
Giggles
Fanning out in ease
Fast flip to dart back and forth
Giggles the goldfish
Night Lights
Traceries of light
Signal far out in darkness
Fireflies blinking
Deep End
Beneath the new growth
Deep in old lilac heartwood
Deep purple streaks hide
Flying Blind
Furious buzzing
Trapped in glue on curling strips
Brown fly paper death
Citrus Facts
Set on bottle necks
Sun-dried for weeks, colors stay
Become showpieces
