A poem about your faithful friend

Self-pity

is

the best kind

of

pity.

Its readily available,

free,

and

easy to control.

Feeling

sorry for yourself

can

sometimes be

the only way

to

feel

anything.

Self-pity

never

lets you down.

A man

can spend

a

lifetime

looking

for love

or success

or spiritual enlightenment,

and

never find

any of them.

But

self-pity

is always there,

and

its been there

from

the

start.

It's

a faithful friend.

It's

a loyal whore.

It's

the guy

who found your wallet

and then

called

your wife

and then

returned the wallet,

and didn't

fuck

your wife.

Self-pity

is a pocket toy

that

you

can pull out

at

any time.

One day

you go down

and

you reach for that bitch

and

you cover yourself in it.

The next day

you

pop it back in your pocket

and

you buck up

and

you set off

to find something else

to

fuck

up.

And

you know

that

you're

safe in the knowledge

that,

at the end of the day,

you

can always

feel

sorry

for

yourself.
