Oh woe is me, that I must stay
Locked in this castle all the day
A prisoner of this wicked king
For I will never take his ring
For lands and coin he offers me
I know not why he cannot see
I love another, oh so bold
And only him I wish to hold
One day I know my knight will come
And on that day I'll travel home
Can it be that here I'll stay
Locked in this castle all the day
-------
But hark I hear a sound
So to the window I am bound
Yes ‘tis he, I see him there
He waves to me and not a care
He sits astride his noble steed
And looks my way and gives me heed
I wave to him my knight so bold
Oh yes, ‘tis he I wish to hold
He makes his challenge to the king
As an army he do bring
And then for sooth I hear the cry
Take thy prize for I must fly
I hear my knight now at my door
And I will love him ever more
----------
Ten years there now has past
And in a castle I sit at last
My noble knight he now has gone
He leaves me hear all alone
He battles still and conquers all
And I sit here on my own
Can this castle a prison be
A prison that I made for me
