Battle now joined; father and son came in deadly fight

Death comes, and widows made before that night

With crushing shield and clashing sword

The blood it came and from vein it poured

Mordred and Barons rode upon mighty steed

For to kill Arthur's knights and make them yield

Arthur seeing battle close

Took to the fray to kill his foes

Providence now it took a hand

With father facing son, but this not planed

The clash of metal you heard it ring

Then wound not fatal to the king

Mordred now he sees his chance

So dagger drawn he did advance

Now Arthur facing death in one great stride

Lifts up his sword and shields his eyes

Mordred with red mist up and full of rage

Falls on Excalibur and feels no pain

Mordred sees Excalibur embedded in his chest

The blood now seeps and pools on that once white vest

As sound of battle moves on apace

A knowing look creeps o'er his face

Mordred son of Arthur, now has lost the prize

As the light of life falls from his eyes

Percy now kneels by Arthur's side

The wound is open and is wide

"Percy look you here, my time is spent"

"Take Excalibur and fulfil the covenant"

"Take it now and with all speed and haste"

"Hurry my Knight there's no time to waste"

"Hurl my friend with good intent"

"Into yon lake before my time is spent"

Percy takes now this mighty sword

And throws it hard, true to his word

The waters part and there a lady stands

And takes Excalibur with a strong right hand

All now has slaughter done

They bury the dead one by one

A new age now has this kingdom got

As with a new king called Lancelot
