Oh what light pleases me from dappled sky?
The green of leaf and brown of bark that meets my eye
The smell of soil of this damp earth
I love this life for all it’s worth
Not for me the roar of town
But give me the peace of nature’s gown
Like a robe it cloaks but all the land
Except for scabs where man does stand
What beauty can one see within?
Trash on streets and litter bins
Compare this to that wondrous leaf
The smell of grass beneath your feet
Then the wonder of that singing bird
And in the town but honking heard
Yes, that nature is a beauteous thing
But man does not its praises sing
Where grass once lay he covers all
Cuts and hacks and makes trees fall
He thinks this world was made for him
And leaves no room, for birds to fly and fish to swim
So give me tree, forest and the glade
For this is beauty and not man made
