Inside The Silence

Poem By: XBrokenHeartedX
Poetry

This is about gay pride. My best friend Ari is bi, and my other friend Gabe is gay. I just wanted to write a poem for them, and also hopefully about other gay's. I know that it's not much of a drastic even anymore, but this is how I feel. I'm sorry that you have to stay and go through all that silence; I feel your pain. View table of contents...

The silence hits you like a bomb,

A quake of fear beneath your feet.

It’s like,

Everything around you has just frozen.

Time.

It seems to have no meaning anymore.

Your parents treat you differently,

Not quite being able to understand.

Your forced into an outcast life of betrayal and fear,

And suddenly everything turns black.

Nobody.

They’ll never know how you feel.

They’ll shun you out,

Not,

Protect.

They think that their sympathy will turn into hate,

And they’ll turn into someone that they’d never dreamed of becoming.

Inside the heart,

Love.

Accept the unaccepted.

Don’t turn them away.

This silence.

It echoes a million times off these walls.

It burns the fire in your eyes.

It picks up the siren,

Deafening.

This silence is.

Nobody will ever know how you feel.

Forever,

This pain,

This silence,

It will echo,

It will linger,

It will burn.

Nobody will ever know how you feel.

Desperate to fit in a world that doesn’t want you,

Inside an atmosphere that pushes you out.

Hold out a hand,

Be that person to hold onto something and not let go.

Kill,

The silence.

This silence hits you like a bomb,

A quake of fear beneath your feet.

Everything around you has just frozen,

And nothing will ever be the same again.

Nobody will ever know how you feel.

Nobody.

dang zoe - this was incredible.
one of my best friends is gay and he comes from an extremely conservative and catholic family... so i think this poem captures exactly how he feels and what he's going through.
wonderful writing - and i absolutely loved how you captured the emotion behind it.
keep it up hon ^^ you have so much talent

Thanks so much! It must be hard for your friend. Though everyone says that God said in the bible that there shouldn't be gay people, I don't believe them. They're no different from us; and it's sad that people discriminate against those things. Thanks so much Alice for reading, it means a lot:)

People shouldn't discriminate. It is just wrong.
Good poem zoe. Love those friends of yours always. ^^

Yeah a lot of people are shuned out because they're gay or lesbian. I think they're just afraid; but there's really nothing to be afraid of. My friends are the most awesome people I've ever met, and I'll never let them go:) Thanks Punishment! I'm glad that you liked it.

I love it!
At my school, there are three gay guys, and they're all really nice!

I know! Gay's and lesbians are some of the nicest people I've ever met! Ha Ha thanks for reading, I'm really glad you enjoyed it:D

Aww I feel bad for them. Gays and Lesbians are the nicest people I know and they get treated so badly. Just because someone is differenct than them doesn't mean it gives them the ability to shun them.

Exactly! I mean think about how they think of us. We seem like really different too, because we aren't like them. (I think?) ha ha but thanks for reading:)

We can't be just anyone else. We can't always live up to people's expectations. We can't always please them either. We better let ourselves out in the open...be carefree...so long as we bring no offense to anyone. I hope your friends feel a little bit ok now.

Yeah they really liked this poem. I got two giant hugs today! Ha Ha:) Thanks for commenting. My friend (the girl) her mom hates her now because she's a lesbian. Every morning her mom calls her a f.a.g.g.o.t. and it makes me so pissed!

This was really nice of you :) I have six gay friends and two or three bi friends. (Most of them are mutual friends though). Hmm... actually that was probably an estimate, I may have more that that. Anyway, this was a good poem!

I know! I have lots of those friends, and they're so nice! Ha Ha but thanks Angela, I'm really glad you liked it:)

really, i have no problem with Gay people. it's thier lives. everyone should be treated with respect. i don't have any Bi or Gay friends that are close to me, but the few i've met are really nice people.
discrimination hurts.
all the best...lexie.

Yeah same with my best friend Ari. Her parents won't listen. Every morning they call her a f.a.g.g.o.t.t which is just really really said:( But I'm glad you're trying to help your friend; that's really nice of you. Thanks so much for commenting:)

Thanks! I'm really glad that you liked it so much:) And your welcome, you have a seriously good talent! Ha HA

I personalyy do not have a problem with someon being gay, lesbian or bi.......bt when i see what they are made to suffer,it makes me really sad ........aftyerall even they are humans and they have a right for loving whoever they wish to love...........why is it necessary for the "moral police" to berate them??!after all they are not doing any harm......are they?

besides that........you have written an exceptionally beautiful poem, capturing their feelings as best as you could.........

great work *HUGS*

n ur style of writing is very unique ^-^

Oh why thank you! Ha Ha I always feel like I'm writing like everybody else. It's not as big as a problem as it was before, but they aren't hurting us, disturbing us, or anything like that. And nobody ever takes time to stop making fun of them to think about how HARD their life must be at that moment. Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it:)

loved it!I liked th metaphore(sp.)"the silence hits you like a bomb".The line "a quake of fear beneth your feet" was also awesome

Thanks! HaHa I liked those lines too:) Thank you so much again, I'm really glad that you liked it.

Wonderful insight ! Living in the dark is absolute agony...myself being enveloped in the misery of living alone and in the closet. Although my situation further aggravates the complexity of this oppression, being a high school student in an all-boys Catholic high school, what proves so distressing is the duplicity of truths one must put forth - pretending always that everything is fine while rather you would succumb to the seeming iminence of failure. Pretending that you do not notice the whispered comments, questioning stares while having no one to relent to but the artificial intimacy of this cursor is truly miserable...

Anyway, enough of my rambling, well done with your words! Keep writing.

J A T xx

P.S. - If you are curious about the view inside the void of the closet feel free to check out my own writings...I'd love it...Thanks !

I can partially see where you're coming from. Not being gay myself, it's hard to understand, but it's just...I guess really really HARD to see those types of people being pushed around, and feeling like they have to stay inside the dark for people to accept them. The people who don't accept them...well they're nothing to worry about. They're just as.ses that are definitely not taken seriously. I myself, like gay people. I actually find that they're easier to talk with a lot more fun. Ha Ha and don't worry, I LOVE it when people ramble:) And I will check out your work! Ha ha thanks again, I'm glad that you enjoyed my poem:)

wow thats really good well im bi so iguess i can relate to thiss well bye ^_^
