I saw a friend of mine playing with his daughter and it inspired this poem

A Dad's prayer

Tiny fingers, soft as a feather
Intertwined with his own, together
Smile broad, eyes deepened pools of love
She makes his heart soar as high as a dove
He gently picks her up, then swings her around
Her laugh reverberates; a musical sound
Then hugs her close to his pounding heart
Her arms around his neck, she gives him a peck
He smiles and silently wishes
her love abundance and stolen kisses
no tear to linger on her cheeks
always to find what her heart seeks
a life of wonder
great ideas to ponder
a beautiful soul
under heaven's control
And inwardly he prays
his princess she must always stay
and never to see her die before her day
