Why do you forsake me?

I believe if my mother tongue could complain about me writing in English, this would be its lament.

Why do you forsake me?
You sold your heritage for commonality
To be a mirage of the greatness you once were
Now I see
Just a shell
No pearl to be found
It's gone
Just a broken lonely shell of the richness I use to be
Why have you forsaken me?
My essence plundered in the deepest darkest pit of nothingness
No way to reclaim my former glory
No way to pay tribute to my exceptionality
You have forsaken me
I remain a long forgotten tongue
Not uttered except by those in delirium
Those remembering the years of plenty
But you have forsaken me
