Perfect Lie
It’s a morning like no other
And in dignity we leave
We’re fighting back regret
From the tears we deceive
We’re letting go of what we love
Capturing a detest we can’t explain

The life we once shared in desperate beauty
Is left shattered in misfortunate pain
A life that’s been unhinged
A heart concealed by bars
Eye’s glazing over misery
Faces with profound scars
Feelings we never describe
Anxiety we never see
Words we never mention
Ending us far from guilt-free
Loving a soul we cannot reach
Adoring the touch we never felt
Examine the smile we don’t really see
Envy the heart we will never melt
Hearing sounds we never acknowledged
Voices we cannot really hear
The sound of despair’s echo
Brings back a dread we no longer fear
At last we understand
And can finally say goodbye
We’ve got no more worries
It’s an ending to a perfect lie
