Leaves of Grass

Poetry By: Yusufalam
Poetry

Nothing retains its true shape forever.. Time distorts everything, be it the memories of your loved ones... Will you let go or hold onto them, knowing they have lost their lustre?

You were the world for me,

I breathed your name every night and day

Your love being so intense,

All the shadows, they just kept away

--

But now that you have gone,

They are back again to haunt me

Smothering me every moment,

I choke inside but never say

--

Everything without you seems fabricated,

Like living in a world of lies

Wandering around in my hollowness,

I try to look for the purpose of my existence

--

And I have nothing, save for your memories

Like leaves of grass, dried and withered

Nevertheless, I hold on to them

They being my only reason to be sane!
