What Happens in the Darkness

The world is black,
Everything is cold,
Nightmares sprout in children’s’ minds,
The moon is a beacon,
Monsters hide in closets,
Secrets hide and wait to leap,
Haunting cries of owls resound in our minds,
Hiding under the covers,
Light is gone,
Kids cry,
Darkness is another world,
One that no one wants to live in.
