I wish I was good at writing. I wish I could seamlessly write stories, make the ink and the paper dance together in ultimate harmony. I wish that my own simple words could reduce someone to tears in context of a beautiful story, But no, I can’t, I’m not good at writing and however much I wish I was, I can’t try to do something I am terrible at. Some people just have it don’t they, the ability to write. And yet they don’t even acknowledge it. It makes me furious to think that some people can be so gifted and here I am with no natural talent trying to work tirelessly for something that will never be mine. All I want to do is be a good writer. Maths, science, history, they can go screw themselves. Yes I get A’s and A*’s in a lot of subjects and ultimately my future will be alright but the sad fact is I’ll never be happy. I’ll never be able to be a poet or writer that moves people. So with that realisation sinking in I say goodbye journalism.
