~Love
We use the same word, love, to describe tacos and our parents. What is love anways?
What the bible says about love
1 Corinthians 13 - the Bible's definition of love.
How does one achieve this kind of love?
~Three hebrew words for love:
1)Raya: friend or companion;soulmate
-the friendship at the core of love
2)Ahava: deep affection.
-all you can do is think about your lover
-making a decision to join your life with another's
-leads to commitment
3)Dod- physical aspect of love
Love begins with
Raya->Ahava->Dod
Think of each type of love as a flame
When man and women come together, all three "flames" are combined.
One flame will never be as hot as all three
•Friends with benefits
just Raya and Dod
-No commitment or affection
-Out of order
We were created to have all three flames.
People try to get the heat of one flame to match that of the three. One or two flames will eventually flicker out and die.
When you separate the flames, you can never be satisfied.
God designed love to be experienced with all three flames. Guard your hearts and remember that true love is made of : Raya(friendship), Ahava(deep affection) and Dod(physical attraction) .
