What if heterosexual relationships are merely symbolic of something infinitely more significant; something that has been deliberately suppressed and perverted for thousands of years? What would happen if such an ancient secret were to suddenly resurface in the modern world? ...And what if this scenario is not entirely fictional?

Sophie entered the lively lecture room, ten minutes late. It wasn't a particularly rare or significant event, yet everyone fell silent at her sudden appearance. It seemed that none of her peers knew how to deal with her anymore. Even their tutor, not normally known for his lenience toward tardiness, merely looked on as the young woman took her seat.

"That is power," whispered Jake, who was not only a renowned Satanist, but also one of the most feared students on campus. Even he couldn't help but marvel at Sophie's newfound confidence and charisma. He'd been meaning to confront her over it for some time, and finally chose his moment after the class had finished.

"Let go of me," she complained, as he pinned her against the lockers.

"What is it with you?" he questioned. "How have gone from being a bespectacled nobody to..."

"To what?" she interjected.

"Well, that is the question, isn't it, Sophie? What have you become?"

"I don't know what you mean."

"Don't give me that shit. You swan around here these days like some sort of princess. Your clothes have changed, your attitude has changed, everything about you has changed. You've even managed to alienate what few friends you actually had."

"They weren't my friends, I realise that now."

"Oh, that's right, you have new friends now, don't you, princess? Male friends. Or did you think that nobody had noticed? Do they have something to do with your transformation? Have you become their little whore, is that it?"

"Get a life, Jake."

Just at that moment a teacher happened to be passing by. "Who are you talking to, Mr Howes?" he asked.

Jake looked around, somewhat startled. Then he looked back to where Sophie had been standing - only she was no longer there. "What?" he muttered to himself, opening one of the lockers. But Sophie was nowhere to be seen.
