Sit with me by the wide wide river,
We'll talk, and watch the starlight glimmer,
Off the water.
And wonder how God's son and daughter,
Are finally together.
I'll fly across the sky to that place far away,
One day. Every day.
All those miles,
To make you smile.
You said, each other, that's what we need.
Somehow I knew, somehow I agreed.
I wonder at that wide wide river,
The starlight, does it really glimmer,
Off the water?
And am I really God's own daughter?
In this world of pain and slaughter.
All those miles,
Would it really make you smile?
But come on.
Walk with me by the river broad,
Take my hand,
Lead me back to the lord.
One day. Every day.
I follow you.
