Who is the poet and what is our poetry?

Do we write poems to be heard?

And songs to be sung?

Find lessons to be learned?

Paint pictures to be hung?

Do we draw attention to others?

Or only for ourselves?

Are we truly sweet lovers?

Or just clanging bells?

Can we see beyond our horizons?

Or to the end of our backyards?

Shall we seek new liaisons?

And go far too far?

Preachers, preach

Singers, sing

Soldiers, fight

Winners, win

What is our message from above?

Let losers die, or lovers love?

Refuse my kind offering

I'll not turn from your hand

Give me my suffering

I live in your land

Let losers, love

Soldiers, win

Lovers, preach

and Singers, sin.
