The first year I got
light blue.
To symbolize new beginings,
and innocence.
The second year I got
dark blue,
to symbolize my ageing,
and progress in life.
The third year I got a
light purple ribbon,
to symbolize my voice,
how it graced our sanctuary for three years.
The forth year I got a dark purple ribbon,
and I was nearly royalty
to all the other
younger kids.
My fifth year I got
a mint ribbon,
I was leaving children's choir,
to sing with the older kids
My sixth year,
my first one in youth choir,
I got a dark green ribbon,
my first one of the start of my inner-church fame.
My seventh year
I got a yellow ribbon.
For friendship
just another year gone by to me.
My eighth year
came with
a pink ribbon
I started confermation and needed assurance
my ninth year,
I got a marroon ribbon
the color of blood.
I have my october accident, how fitting
Now I have ten ribbons,
the last a bright red.
and now I leave
for bigger things
I don't know where the years went
or whether I survived
but I can tell you
they were the best years of my life.
