I stare at him
Through the blurry window
Of my tears
His confident stride
One arm swinging,
The other in his pocket
He passes by me
He can’t see me
Yet I stand there
Tears flowing still
My knees shaking
Weak from the weight
That bears in my heart
“Don’t leave me”
But he cannot hear
The thoughts I shout after him
So as my knees hit the floor
Salty tears spilling onto my tongue
The agony of my heart is unshaken
The pain in my soul intensified
I lift my hands to heaven
My eyes looking up
“Why God?”
“Why me?”
“Why did he leave me?”
And in a still small voice
I heard Him reply
“Because you disobeyed me”
And my world went still.
The tears dried.
The agony paused.
The burden lifted.
Because I knew.
May God have mercy
On my soul…
