There was a definite autumn nip in the air...

There was a definite autumn nip in the air,
As I spent my 'Quiet Time' with You.
The autumn tints are everywhere,
Beautiful golds, reds, browns and of every possible hue!

The seasons that are set in nature,
Reflect the ones in life...
Spring is birth and childhood... summer is young adulthood...
Autumn is middle age... and winter is the closing years of life!

In springtime, we are full of hope...
Our lives are an unwritten book!
In summer, hope still lingers on...
Even if our lives may have a battered look!

In autumn its not so easy to be full of hope,
For the years have flown quickly by!
The time that SEEMED to stretch on for ever,
Somehow now SEEMS to literally fly!

And so... as hopes and dreams may lie scattered,
In tatters around our feet...
It can be difficult have hope renewed,
Much more easy to dwell increasingly on regrets and disappointments than to new hope meet!

For if hope is allowed completely to die...
Then winter will come sooner than it should!
In a heart turned to stone... with no life at all...
No hope can enter... even if it would!

So... Dear Jesus, when my life slips into winter...
Which, if You continue to Bless me with life, it one day will...
Help me to keep my eyes fixed firmly on You (not the wrinkles, or white hair)...
And Hope springing Eternal that my days will continue to be Shared by You!!!
