I fell off my boat today,
Head first, a beautiful dive,
Into the cold dark water,
I’m lucky to still be alive!

It isn’t the cleanest of water
In fact it’s dirty and stale,
All I can say is I’m glad,
To be here to tell you this tale!

I cut my ear, bruised my arm,
But what hurt the most, was my pride,
It made me vomit for hours,
All I wanted to do was hide!

I have to say I was scared,
I thought it might be my end,
Then I thought I saw Maurice,
He was a fantastic friend.

Maurice drowned at Selby Lock,
In the year two thousand and six,
But I’m sure he gave me a push,
Or was my mind, just playing tricks?

Whether you believe or not,
I’m sure he was with me today,
I believe he’s my guardian angel,
And he is very welcome to stay!!!

Any water in Selby would be yuk! Or were you in a different place? Either way a near drowning experience is not to be recomended regardless of your beliefs. Good write.
