Looking at how people's views of different gods has changed sent me spiraling into these musings. I've been trying to practice poetry so this came about.

Can gods become polluted?

What happened to the Assyrians?

Light darkened and temples looted.

Forms twisted, fallen from sovereigns.

Driven from their home and driven from sanity

Into the world they roam, their names now profanity

Can a fallen god regain it's light

if old praise shall reignite

if old wisdom can bring insight

if old ways purified of blight

Can gods be returned

if worshiped earned

and incensed burned

Or like ancient knowledge lost

Of machines and philosophies

To build an empire at such a cost

called unclean by blind clergies.

We once looked up to those like Horus

Great lights that marked the path before us

Song and hymns from faithful chorus.

Or was it us who shifted focus

To a new god with many pious

Whose held our hand and been our guidance

Whose watched over us in thoughtful silence

And many look to with awe bound reverence

Who praise this god whose name is Science.

Can Science become polluted?
