You, Oh Monster
Oh Monster,
With your beguiling words that tell
Of blood and chocolate straight from hell
Licking the lustful fire, I’ve kept dull
Wicked to the core but all the more beautiful
You mummer lies when I’m in doubt
That are sweet to my ear
But foul in my mouth
Don’t blind me from what I need to see
And Deafen me with what I want to hear
Because you’re not the one for me
To you, I won’t revere
Oh monster,
You try to lure me with faux words
Sending me bats instead of birds
Your speech is deceiving
Tricking me into believing
You are the fear and the dread
Killing me softly with what you’ve said
By the time I notice your antics
You’ve murdered me and I’m dead.
But I have a mighty King on my side
Who sent His to son to pay for my sins as He died
He who loves me no matter what I do
He who loves me because He chooses to
And with Him by my side all the way,
You oh, Monster
Can no longer stay
His words are true instead of reeking with lies
He doesn’t give me birds, He gives me the sky
He’s so accepting, it makes me cry
And I’ll love Him to the day I die
Because He is my rock and my friend
The One that I can truly confide in
He speaks of roads paved with gold
And with Him, I’m don’t feel alone
He opens my eyes and takes away my fear
And in turn, I revere
So, take your sins and go away
You, oh Monster
Can no longer stay
