You know, I wondered
I wondered said I
Before I went under
under the knife.
~
Ten, nine, eight,
seven, six, five
Don't remember four
before closing my eyes.
~
Hours turned to seconds
while I was asleep
Before waking up
from out of the deep.
~
A voice calls me
it's time to rise
I gaze about groggily
much to my surprise.
~
One, two, three
minutes have passed
An angel said centuries
I learned at last.
~
So this was death's sting
its anesthetic power
I remember the shot
Just not the hour.
~
It's like preparation
before a surgery
By the time it begins
it's over you see.
~
For those still alive
choose your physician well
for in the thereafter
it's heaven or hell.
~
You know, I wondered
I wondered said I
Before I went under
under the knife.
