You walked from the church and you went away
They haven't laid eyes on you there since that very day
In the pews by the windows, as they sing their hymns
They look out to see, when you'll come back to Him
His tears are falling like an April shower
He's always sad just knowing where you are
Nothing else ever seems to bother Him
Except that He knows you're dying in your sin
You went out on your own but He waits for you
The time is getting shorter, almost time to pay the due
Please can you tell Him why it's taking you so long
Because the Lord is coming back, soon to take us home
The Lord needs no calendars and marks off no days
You ought to know He loves you in oh so many ways
All the time you're on His mind, His heart's about to break
Won't you come on home now, before it gets to late
