You Gave Me a Song
by Susan H. Fouts
You gave me a song
When I had none;
When I thought I was nowhere,
Nowhere to belong.
You gave me a prayer
and I knew that You were there.
Ready to hold me,
Ready to care
***
O, Lord, You're my stay
in my times of trouble.
You provided a way for me to walk,
With my head held up high
escaping condemnation.
You are my joy...You're the lifter of my head.
***
The pain was so deep,
More than I could keeep.
Locked up inside
Covered with time,
That grain of sand
became a pearl
When I finally let go
and gave it to the Lord.
***
Jesus, now I think You know
That I love You so.
You're my Lord and Saviour
Your my Prince of Peace.
You gave me a song
and I'll sing until You come
And I'll sing to you in glory
and through eternity.
