My Mum gave me The Holy Bible at a very early age

I read it cover to cover, every word on every page

I realised quickly that whenever she was centre stage

She would use it as a weapon against me in her rage

She never wanted me and tried to hide every trace

'Cos whenever we sat for food, nobody ever said grace

I was the kid that had a chance but was never given one

I got threatened with the fist and from it I would run

We could have shared a life of laughs, happiness and fun

Instead I harbour anger and resentment inside a rage

And now I settle into myself at an older and wiser age
