An elderly man walked along the crystal lake, his reflection quivered as the koi fish glided just beneath the surface. He looked upon the lake with a light heart, the mountains mirrored on its lucid surface. Adorning the ring of the lake stood tall cherry blossom trees, the pleasant pink petals slowly floated to the ground. The pale old man slowly shuffled along, gazing gently at the scenery. Looking up at the pale blue sky he watched the clouds roll by. On the edge of a lake stood a tall red archway, a sacred gateway.

Stopping just before the torii, he bowed his head and closed his eyes. The tired man passed through the arch onto a small wooden bridge that lead to an island in the center of the vast lake. A tall cherry blossom stood in the center of the island, at base of the tree sat a small shrine. The man bowed before the shrine and sat upon the roots of the tree, leaning against the bark he closed his eyes and smiled.

As his eyes shut his sense faded, a body remained but something more had left. The cherry blossoms became radiant. A single flower fell from its branch, it slowly floated down on the gentle breeze. It brushed lightly against his cheek, his smile remained as each flower slowly fell to the ground. As the day faded to night, so did life. Petal by petal the flowers fell from the cherry blossom, the old man still sat motionless at the base of the tree. Pink and white petals surrounding him.

Flowers continued to decorate the shrine, until just one lingered on a small branch. A light breeze blew for one last time, the final breath softly plucked the blossom from its perch. It glided through the air down to the old man, landing silently on him. Its brilliant glow slowly faded.
