There was once a young girl who arrived back from school, crying, to her mother. The mother, worried, asked her daughter, "Dear daughter, why are you crying? What has made you upset?"
The mother sat the girl down at the dining table, and once the girl had calmed down, she spoke, "I was thinking about stuff, Mama. And I realized something."
The mother's countenance softened when she realized that it was not bullying that had made the girl cry. "And what's that, sweetheart?"
The girl sniffled and said, "I was thinking about life and the universe, and then I found myself thanking everyone and everything in my life."
"Uh huh." The girl nodded. "Do you want to hear what I was thinking?"
"Of course, sweetheart."
The girl took a slightly shaky deep breath. "I'm going to say what I was thinking to you. I was saying it to everyone in my head. But because I'm talking to you, I'll say it to you, okay?"
"Okay." The mother smiled.
"My heart's pumping really fast. It's not pounding inside of me, but I think it's like this because I'm happy and excited about the life Ilive. Thank you Mommy, for giving birth to me and giving me this life. Then, I felt like thanking everyone for being in my life, even for a second. Everything that I experienced made me for who Iam. And then I told everyone in my head, 'Thank you for being alive. I can't imagine what would have happened if you weren't in my life. I love you, everyone. I love you, everything that has been in my life. Even if I see you once in my whole life. Even if you're just there. Thank you."
The girl began to cry again, thankful and happy for everything she had gone through in her life.
The mother was silent for a moment, awed by her daughter's little speech. Then she spoke gently, "You're so sensitive, you know," and the girl looked up.
"I once prayed and attempted to communicate with All That Is once. I was told that you had a big heart. I just thought it was something that was said to flatter me, but now I see you really do have a big heart." The mother smiled, and the girl smiled in return.
Later that night, the little girl closed her eyes and contacted her guardian angel before she went to sleep: I don't think Icould say thank you a hundred times and be happy about it, the little girl thought.
I love you, my guardian angel.
And after a moment, the little girl was sure she heard a gentle voice respond within her, I love you too.
And the girl smiled again, content.
