SUSAN
Mrs. Pearls told the maid, that Susan should be separated early from milk.
She considered, a healthy child should bear the consequences of being alive soon enough.
So, Susan was separated from milk, and continued to be an angel till the age of six, when she suddenly refused to play with her brown-haired doll.
Mrs. Pearls told the maid , she should buy Susan a fair-haired doll.
The maid did so, and Susan became an angel again, sitting and playing quietly with the fair doll, which she named Browney.
They asked her , why did she quit playing with the real Browney.
She answered with curious simplicity, ‘ I prefer coffee to milk.’
