River Named Red

By: Simplicity512

Page 1, I began writing it as a lullaby. The river of Red used to be a Tree of Green that swayed in the breeze. Now... I think, the River of Red has turned into referencing the rivers in China that flow red because of the Mercury in them. This poem, originally, was about a soldier who wanted to win a battle of some sort. Now... I think this poem can go for anyone who thinks about giving up on everything.

Taking the breath, hoping it holds.

Weilding the powers of Gods,

Unsure of how to bend.

Let me run to the River named Red

and mourn the loss of gain.

Throwing aside all troubles,

I reach for the falling stars.

I let my tears run as I take another step.

Let me run to the River named Red

and mourn the sacrifice for age.

Time takes as I take the dreams of others.

I fall head first into the bloodied waterway,

thinking of how to save all but me.

Let me drown in the River named Red,

and mourn of the loss of heroes.

Take my heart, take my breath.

Hold them close.

Soon you'll see what you have done to me.

Let me slip away in the River named Red.

And forget that the sun rises.

Through the wars, through the trials,

I have soothed all of your wounds.

Will you not repay?

Come to the River named Red,

and sing my song as I suffocate beneath you.
