There was once a magical orchard that held the sweetest peaches on earth. It was said that if three close friends each ate three of those peaches on the third of March, then they would gain wisdom, fame, and fortune.

A group of three friends decided that they would brave the challenges and eat the sweetest peaches together, on the third day of March. They traveled far, braving many trials in order to reach the legendary orchard.

However, when at long last, they reached the orchard, they found that the orchard had already been harvested for the festival of the dieties. They had lost all hope, when an elderly gardener told them that there were plans to plant a new peach orchard. However, the number of magical peach seeds was low, and the orchard would need to be planted soon if they wished for it to have the special magical powers of its parents. Believing the three friends to be honest men, the gardener offered them a deal. He would trade them a magical peach for three magical peach seeds. He told them that the peach seeds could sometimes be found in the orchard.

Delighted with this opportunity, the three friends set out in the forest, searching all over the forest for the seeds. Unfortunately, no matter how hard they looked, they couldn't find a single seed. Fortune smiled on them that day though, for after searching high and low, they were able to find six perfect magical peaches. While the six peaches were nice, they were not enough to grant the three friends wisdom, fame, and fortune.

Is there a way to obtain the extra peaches they need? Or will they return home with their task unfulfilled? Post your answers in the comments.

okies, they can use the seeds from the peaches that they ate and give them to the gardener, then they could get the other peaches. could that be right?

Yes, except they only have 6 peaches. So they can only get 2 peaches back.

Just to make it clear the above answer is incomplete.

"they have 6 peaches, but no one knows how many seeds will be in each one....maybe there's more seeds inside than we know, so there's a chance to gain that last peach after all"....I always make things complex.....PLEASE tell me the answer soon =O

If you've ever had a peach, you know that there is only one pit. :).

well, they could eat the six peaches, give the guy the seeds, get 2 peaches back, the other guy eats them and gives those two seeds back but then they are still one seed short...im confused

Yes, the problem essentially boils down to they only have 2 seeds to get another peach.

How can they?

okay - wild guess...

the 3rd guy eats the two peaches and gives the caretaker dude the two seeds. now, because the caretaker dude think they are honest men, the 3rd guy asks him to "borrow" him a 3rd peach, eats it and gives him the 3rd seed from the borrowed peach?

Yup. Congratulations. You got it dead on.

impossible. 1 pit. not seed. wat funnybunny said.

A peach pit is also a seed. That is why fruits have pits.

I am literally laughing out loud...I feel so stupid, but that's hilarious-I was putting too much thought into it, and I forgot about the peach pit =S....I had thought maybe they could just enjoy the peaches they have as a snack for now, and just wait till next year, and maybe get there a little earlier than the 3rd of March, and try again...lol =oxo=D=P...but I just read Funnybunny's try at it...and so that's it?...it seems a little too simple for a "catch" answer....how do they supposedly ask to "borrow" another peach...I guess the gardener has to be half-retarded lol=P

Heh. He told them he trusts them.

You know how people are always buying things on tab or credit.

Hope you enjoyed the riddle though.

How do you think of such complex things? FunnyBunny's very good at them.

Heh. Yeah she guessed a lot.

Some of these I've heard from other people. Some of them I try to make up.

I liked it. Write another one. I don't really mind that I can never work them out.

Sure, but how do you know they know how to grow peaches?

And they need 9 peaches, not 6.

wow, you have some really clever riddles here! i was going to guess that the guys ate the peaches and gave the gardener the seeds in exchange for two peaches, then ate one of them and gave him the seed back. then i read FunnyBunny's answer.

haha... oh well. love to hear some more, keepme posted when you have some more stuff published!
