Robert Kelly Autobiography

This is an Autobiography of my life in Texas and later as...

I was born in Fort Worth, Texas on Oct. 2, 1935.

My Mother and Father were adagio dancers. (that’s acrobatic dancing to music for the younger folks)   After about three or four months of [her] pregnancy with me, she finally had to give up being thrown across the stage and being lifted into the air doing a back bend on my Father’s out-stretched arm.

So, actually, I was on stage before I was born. Guess I came by this entertainment business, naturally.

After graduating from Olney High School in Texas in 1953, I then graduated from North Texas State College in 1957 with a BBA. My goal from an early age was to be a Song Writer and Entertainer but my Father wanted me to get an education first, just in case the entertainment thing didn't work out.

After a quicky trip to California after Graduation, I came back to Texas and was a Disk Jockey for WRR in Dallas for a few years and started my first Recording Studio called Top Ten Recording.  When I met others with the same interests (Writing, Singing, and performing music) I formed a group in 1964 called Expression and we started on the road performing in Night Clubs.  We gradually honed our skills enough to be able to move up the ladder and started in 1967 to work on the Nevada Casino Lounge circuit.  We continued making a good living---even thou we didn't have a hit record----and working all the major casino's in Nevada until the group finally broke up in 1980.

I , then, tried another group but had difficulty finding the right combination to continue down that road so I decided that I would just do it all myself and I became a One Man Band.   It just so happened that this was the perfect time to make this decision.  The personal computer was just arriving on the market and there was a Mac Plus that had a music program so I could program drums, bass and piano to play as background while I played Guitar and Sang using my Saxophone for Solo's.   I continued doing my One Man Band until I retired from the stage work in 2000.

Now, I have a computer based Home Recording Studio in my master bedroom of my current home in Las Vegas, Nevada.

My book is an Autobiography of my early life.
